"...there's no doubt that iPhone 4 is a hugely impressive smartphone. It corrects key flaws in the previous model – particularly the battery life – and is one of the most user-friendly handsets when it comes to shooting hi-res video. The screen also sets new standards for smartphones."

"Call quality too has been improved. The iPhone 4 seems louder, less wishy washy and clearer than Apple’s earlier efforts. You could pin that improvement on its inclusion of a secondary mic for noise cancellation, but it still struggled a little as we made a call from a hectic train station."

"The iPhone has almost as many pixels into a screen a quarter of the size. Pictures are full of details while screen text has never looked this good. In fact, you can read a webpage while fully zoomed out – if your eyesight's good enough."

"Everything is more crisp. I tap out a message and the new keyboard noises make the old 3GS keyboard noises seem muddy. The speakers themselves are more clear as well, but a little softer."

"This time around, Apple decided to make the single home button feel more springy than what we experienced previously. In fact, this actually applies to all of the physical hardware buttons found on the phone as every single one of them has that solid tactile feel."

"Is it better than the previous iPhone 3GS? Yes - by a country mile. Is it better than the HTC Desire? In some ways yes, in some ways no... the iPhone 4 hits higher points but thanks to the reception issue hits lower points too. Essentially it comes down to a straight choice: are you interested in th..."

"We can't overstate how high-end the design of the iPhone 4 is. The 3GS now feels cheap and chubby by comparison, and even a phone like the HTC Droid Incredible -- which just came out -- seems last-generation."

"Despite antenna issues, Apple's iPhone 4 is definitely the best iPhone yet. Its superb design, outstanding display and excellent camera make it an ideal upgrade for owners of older Apple handsets…"

"...those who don't mind covering the antenna with a rubber bumper or case will buy a very capable smartphone. It doesn't multitask like a BlackBerry and it isn't customisable like an Android, but the iPhone is slick, fast and supported by the largest of the applications stores. Just remember to take..."

"It just seems some features will be forever missing. The iPhone’s memory isn’t expandable and you can’t use the thing as an external drive (this also means that files are only transferred via iTunes, again)."
