"The real focus is on the gorgeous 4-inch, 540-by-960-pixel (qHD) capacitive LCD touch screen, which looks incredibly sharp and crisp. There are four capacitive touch buttons beneath the screen. Typing on HTC's on-screen QWERTY keyboard was easy in both portrait and landscape modes, thanks to its well-tuned haptic feedback and predictive text algorithm." 4/5

"Browsing the web on the EVO Design 4G was fast and responsive. The mobile version of The New York Times took between 3-5 seconds to load while the mobile version of the ESPN.com took between 5-7 seconds." 4/5 Stars

"The 5 megapixel camera is not the EVO Design 4G’s strong point. Colors were rather inaccurate and images had a tendency to be dark in all but strong light conditions. The camera interface is the familiar one we’ve seen from HTC for a while not, but isn’t the latest one seen on the Amaze 4G." 8/10 Stars

"In fact, it's much sharper and more stylish than the Evo 3D. The Design 4G measures 4.8 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide by 0.47-inch thick and weighs 5.2 ounces (in contrast, the slightly larger Evo 3D stands 5 inches tall by 2.6 inches wide by 0.48 inch thick and weighs 6 ounces.) The size is very manageable and it feels great in the hand and fine on the ear. " 4/5 Stars

"This device appears to be part of the next generation of battery saving miracle devices because even though the 1520 mAh battery is rated at 6 hours of use, standby on this device is fantastic."

"The EVO Design 4G while well-made, ultimately is a phone trying to be the jack of all trades, yet comes out being the master of none. While plusses include affordability, great materials and a gorgeous screen, it's invariably overcome by negatives like questionable battery life and a hungry WiMAX radio that, for most of us, adds little. "Call quality over Sprint’s voice network here in San Francisco was a mixed bag. While the calls I placed were free of any static or reverb, audio levels varied. One second I could hear the other person just fine, and the next, they sounded as if they were whispering into their microphone. The mic on the Evo Design did a good job of filtering out background noises, but on occasion it would pick up wind that hit it directly." 3.5/5 Stars

"Aside from my few gripes with HTC Sense 3.0, the phone pretty much behaves as you'd expect from an Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread device. Oddly, however, I did find a noticeable amount of stutter and lag in opening some applications and in switching screens. And I say odd because this thing is powered by a 1.2GHz processor and has nearly 800MB RAM. It wasn't enough to cause any real issues, but it did test my patience on more than one occasion." 7/10

"In this day and age, a 5.0 megapixel camera sensor isn't much to get excited about, but that's exactly what the HTC EVO Design 4G is packing on its backside. Coupled with a single-LED flash, photos taken with this handset are "just okay" even at the highest 2592 x 1456 resolution setting, with low color saturation and frequently murky results indoors." 3/5 Stars
