"The onscreen keyboard is excellent, with absolutely brilliant word prediction. We were able to type away at fullspeed without issue. The slow processor can sometimes make the keyboard a little slow to pop up but in operation it's fine. " 9/10

Positive

"The HTC One V is very pocketable as it only has a 3.7-inch display, but still packs enough power to be a great phone. Running on a Qualcomm 1.0 GHz single-core processor and 512MB of RAM it might not be a powerhouse, but should be plenty for most users needs. "

"Using a dedicated image processing chip, the camera is very fast to startup (under a second to the first shot) and then shoots at 4fps if you hold down the shutter. You can pick a best shot from any burst and delete the unwanted images with ease (if desired). Image quality is excellent with well-judged exposures..." 4/5 Stars

"The 3.7 inch LCD screen features a 480 by 800 resolution and a 252ppi display which isn’t at the high-end of smartphone tech, matching the Nokia Lumia 710 pixel for pixel, but it is vivid and works well at all angles, lacking definition only in the most complex of web pages. " 4/5 Stars

"Design is one of the real strengths of the HTC One V, especially when put alongside some of the rivals that are predominantly plastic. By contrast, the HTC One V is a solid device both aesthetically and physically. The unibody design, featuring a small chin, doesn't warp or flex in the hand, so it has a feeling of quality." 4/5 Stars

"HTC has established a new bellwether for entry-level phones. Of course, though, that tempting price means having to settle for more limited horsepower. " 7.5/10

"The One V may look small in size, but it has everything you will need in an Android smartphone – an impressive display, a decent camera, a good music player and ICS. For RM 999, we think it would be the most affordable and feature packed ICS smartphone in the market for now. "

"While we can't say the One V takes fantastic pictures, the phone doesn't take terrible pictures either. The BSI sensor does help with low-light pictures, but we recommend using the flash, which manages to fill up the entire picture easily." 3.6/5 Stars

"Considering its relatively meagre specs, it’s barely surprising that raw performance is the one area where the One V doesn’t really excel. Although in everyday use you’re unlikely to feel frustrated — as mentioned above, Android itself runs smoothly, with very little lag — occasionally apps will run a little slower, or loading data might take longer than on a more powerful handset." 7.1/10

"The 5MP camera should hopefully take better photos than we’ve seen previously on Android 5MP shooters. This is because the One V comes rocking one of HTC’s new F2.0 apertures and 28mm lenses, as well as a BSI sensor for better low-light shots. We’re keen to see if this camera actually holds up in the real-world, or if it sounds more impressive on paper than it actually is." 70/100

"The One V isn't the fastest phone around. Web browsing especially taxes its single-core chip. So if you're after a hyper-responsive phone, you should splash your cash elsewhere." 3.5/5 Stars

"It offers a reasonable amount of on-the-go juice, with standby times running into the days. But heavy usage will, as with most recent smartphones, have the HTC One V on its knees well before the end of the day." 3.5/5 Stars

"Our main complaint here isn't the camera, nor the build quality, nor the screen (aside from the discoloration); it's the processor. A little bit more horsepower would have really helped the One V stand out as the go-to low-price Android phone. Aside from that, the One V is a compelling proposition for anyone hunting for their first smartphone, or who knocked on the Android party door a little early..."
