Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch Reviews

"The Samsung Epic 4G Touch is a remarkable smartphone that's on par with, and even slightly better than, the original Samsung Galaxy S2. They are similar handsets, but Sprint has used a brighter and slightly larger screen. Also, the phone uses blinking lights to let you know about charge state and incoming messages. The phone is fast, has a brilliant and clear screen, lasts all day, plays media smoothly, and has a top-notch camera.

"The Epic Touch 4G absolutely screams. It's faster, brighter, bigger, thinner, lighter and more powerful than any Android phone to date. 4G data speeds are consistently faster than the next best 4G Android phone on Sprint, the Nexus S. And everything else that made the first iteration of this phone great: camera, screen, Swype keyboard (with haptic feedback), etc, is still intact. And though it's still not any major achievement in industrial design, the new outer shell for the Epic Touch 4G feels a bit less generic and much more approachable."

"We took some truly beautiful images with the Epic 4G Touch at full resolution, thanks to the plethora of various camera settings available: ISO, metering, focus modes, panoramic shots and other shooting modes were all graciously included. We had a lot of fun using the macro mode, which allowed us to take some amazing shots from different perspectives that we just haven't been able to do from very many other phones."

"The Epic 4G Touch also includes other impressive specs such as an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording abilities, a 2.0-megapixel secondary camera for video chat, a 1800-mAh battery for exceptional battery life–all packed into a super thin, sleek design measuring only 9.66 mm thick. Pulling the strings together underneath is Samsung TouchWiz 4.0 on top of Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread."

"It’s incredibly fast, extremely slim and has Samsung’s winning Super AMOLED Plus display. If you’re in a good WiMAX coverage area, you’ll revel in solid 4G speeds, and if you’re in a 3G-only area—well, you’ll get average Sprint 3G speeds and enjoy longer battery life. " 4/5 Stars

"The Samsung Epic 4G Touch offers speedy performance, a beautiful screen, and a great multimedia experience to make it one of Sprint's top Android phones, but its large size won't be for everyone." 4/5 Stars

"The Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch has an intangible lusciousness to it. With its beautiful screen and top-of-the-line performance, it's going to fly off of shelves. This is one of the best Android phones on the market, so why doesn't the Epic 4G Touch get our Editors' Choice? The Motorola Photon is slightly better in our view..." 4/5

"It’s still running at WVGA 800 x 480 resolution, mind, and since we’ve seen Samsung’s incredibly pixel-dense displays on the Galaxy Note at IFA earlier in the month, we can’t help but wish the EPIC 4G Touch had stepped up to qHD 960 x 540 resolution at least. Nonetheless, it’s responsive and great for video watching."
