No iPhone 5 for T-Mobile?

TmoNews has reported that T-Mobile CMO Cole Brodman has been quoted stating that T-Mobile will not be receiving the iPhone 5 this year. Of course, no one is certain exactly when the iPhone 5 will come out (although we’re expecting mid-October), so the statement could also allude to a possible iPhone 5 delay.

However, it’s more likely that T-Mobile will not be receiving the iPhone 5 until after its competition or, worse, that it will not get its hands on the iPhone 5 at all.

The news is pretty surprising and could be subject to change when (or if) the AT&T acquisition of T-Mobile goes through. If T-Mobile turns out to be the only one of the 4 major carriers to not offer the iPhone 5 then it could spell disaster for the nation’s #4 carrier. A desperate re-shake and increase in stock of Android and Windows Phone devices would definitely be in order.

Of course, T-Mobile might still supply the rumored iPhone 4S handset. If you haven’t read our iPhone 4S post yet then you should check it out. Sufficed to say that the 4S is thought to be a mid-range iPhone 4, but with better specs than the current iPhone 4.

This close to a big Apple launch there’s always rumors wrapped in enigmas delivered amongst a mass of hearsay and flat-out make-believe. So it’s difficult to keep tabs on what’s likely and what’s ridiculous. Hopefully we’re correct in our mid-October prediction for a big Apple handset release and we won’t have to wait too much longer in order to find out.
