Super Mario Run jumps onto Android on March 23

After almost four months of iOS exclusivity, Mario's smartphone debut will be available through the Google Play App Store starting from March 23.

Taking some inspiration from the endless runner genre, Super Mario Run is a one-button platformer where Mario automatically runs through levels himself. As the player, you'll tap the screen whenever you want Mario to jump, saving him from the perils of bottomless pits and platoons of Goombas. The full game has 24 single player levels, and a competitive asynchronous multiplayer mode. Each of the 24 levels also offer some replayability, in the form of increasingly hard-to-find collectible coins hidden throughout each stage.

Super Mario Run is free to download, but you'll need to pay to play further than the first three levels. On iOS, unlocking the full game cost $10. We're assuming this will also be the case on Android.

If you've got an Android device, you can sign-up for a launch day notification through the Google Play Store.
