More About Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless
Verizon is currently the USA’s largest mobile service provider. Even in the face of AT&T’s recent acquisition of T-Mobile Verizon may still be considered the top-dog, as AT&T and T-Mobile will continue to act as separate entities despite being owned by the same company.
The width of Verizon’s national coverage for both 3G and “4G” LTE wireless internet support is currently unchallenged by any of its competitors. This large area of coverage means that Verizon customers have more freedom when travelling inside the USA, as they won’t often find themselves without coverage or paying for roaming charges.
Verizon also has a reputation for having America’s fastest network. This is a difficult thing to prove or disprove and really has little relevancy as a “fact”. What is more important when it comes to speed is which carrier is fastest for the customer in question. Different people use their mobile devices in different ways and locations so it’s important for each individual to find out which carrier is best for their specific needs. While Verizon might have the fastest average national coverage (a fact which is, once again difficult to prove), a person who doesn’t often travel might find that Verizon coverage is slower than that of another provider in their area.
However, after all is said and done Verizon does have an impressive “4G” LTE network currently available in selected areas of the USA. LTE wireless internet far outstrips traditional 3G networks, offering up to 6 or 7 times the maximum potential speed of HSDPA and a significant speed improvement on “4G” WiMax or HSPA+ technologies that is currently used by Sprint, T-Mobile and other smaller carriers.
On the customer-review front Verizon receives a good amount of positive feedback from its subscribers, generally coming in 2nd to T-Mobile in national customer service surveys.
In summary Verizon has wide coverage, competitive data speeds and is currently one of the only options in the USA for LTE wireless. Its phone coverage area is massive, covering most of the country’s population, as is its 3G data support. Of course Verizon has its fair share of unhappy customers and horror stories, but the positive feedback seems to outweigh the negative. That’s probably why they’re still the USA’s largest and most prolific mobile carrier.
