Viasat FAQs

Viasat offers high-speed internet plans to both residents and businesses in the U.S. Viasat also offers home phone service and an internet browser for advanced security, ad-blocking and privacy.
Viasat is available in almost every single state, with larger coverage areas in California, Texas, and New York. Use our internet search engine to see if you can get Viasat at your address.
Viasat's satellite service can offer users speeds between 12Mbps and 100Mbps. Speeds will vary from location to location and other things will affect speeds at different times of day. For example, during peak periods, you may notice slower than normal speeds.
Viasat offers their customers high-speed internet via satellite.
If you happen to have a Viasat internet plan with limited data your speeds will be slowed once you've reached your data cap for the month. The slower speeds range between 1-5Mbps and your data allowance will reset once your billing cycle is complete. You will never be charged overage fees for exceeding your data limit.
Viasat requires new customers to sign a (minimum) 24-month contract, which locks in your monthly pricing for the duration of your contract. If you do not wish to sign a contract, you do have the option to pay a one-time fee of $300 so you're free to terminate your services at any time.
When you sign up for service, you will need to lease your equipment (modem, satellite) from Viasat. You cannot use any of your own equipment, as all of their devices are proprietary. You can either pay $10/month, $199.99 upfront for a 2-year lease, or $299.99 for a lifetime lease.
Professional installation is required from a qualified Viasat technician, which will be a one-time fee in the range of $0-$149.99, depending on your credit score and location.
Yes! With Viasat, you have the option to bundle your internet with phone service and/or DIRECTV.

Viasat Customer Service & Reputation

As expected, Viasat's gaming customers struggle with latency times and other users who bought capped data plans are very unhappy after they've reached their threshold and their data gets throttled.

If you decide to go with Viasat, it is recommended that you select an uncapped data plan if you think you might go over. Additionally, since getting out of your contract will cost you, before you sign your final contract (immediately after installation) ensure that your service is up and running with satisfactory speeds. You can even do a speed test right there on the spot.

Why Choose Viasat?

Chances are, if you're looking for internet coverage and you live in a rural area, Viasat will provide service in your area. Satellite offers customers the benefit of getting coverage where no other providers can go.

On top of that, Viasat works hard to offer customers speeds up to 100Mbps, which was unheard of not too long ago.

For rural and remote customers, satellite internet is a solid choice and could even be your only choice.

Viasat offers customers various internet plans with speeds ranging from 12Mbps all the way up to 100Mbps. Best of all, they're one of the few high speed satellite companies that will provide service in (very) rural locations.

With reasonable upfront fees and monthly rates, you should absolutely check out their plans today.
