Republic Wireless is no more. DISH, Republic's owner, announced a transition of all Republic accounts to its nascent Boost Infinite 5G network by August 31, 2023. Existing customers were automatically signed up to Boost's $25 unlimited plan as part of the transition. New customers visiting Republic's website are now redirected to Boost Infinite's site to choose a new plan, while existing customers are encouraged to visit boostinfinite.com/republic to confirm their account details and finalize their transition to the new network.
Purchased by DISH in 2021, the former Sprint MVNO offered a unique model in its Wi-Fi-first approach. Customers could choose from several cheap prepaid plans, starting with Wi-Fi-only options and moving all the way up to unlimited talk, text, and data over Wi-Fi plus the T-Mobile network, which acquired Sprint in 2020.
Since its purchase of Republic Wireless, DISH has moved to build out its Boost Infinite service, a 5G-only sister network to the well-known Boost Mobile. Uniquely, Boost Infinite plans are also sold on Amazon to prequalified Amazon Prime customers, a first in the mobile industry.
Boost Infinite currently offers mobile service via the AT&T network, though DISH aims to build out its own 5G network and become the fourth major carrier to join the likes of Verizon and T-Mobile.
