While the release of Apple's flagship iPhone Xs and Xs Max has garnered much of the media buzz as of late, the release of the XR is equally exciting. The new device is available for preorder today, Friday, October 19, and will be in stores next Friday, October 26.
Featuring the best battery life of Apple's three new phones and coming in a range of colors, the $749 iPhone XR also starts at $240 less than the $1,000 Xs.
What's Different in the iPhone XR
There's no getting around it: the iPhone XS and, especially, XS Max, are expensive. Starting at $1,000 and going up from there, the price tags of these devices are enough to put many users off from them entirely. Fortunately, the XR starts at $250 less and includes some of the same core specs, most importantly the lightning fast A12 processing chip. Moreover, the XR features the best battery of Apple's three new phones, and a range of cool colors.
Like the XS and XS Max, the XR includes:

When you do it this way, Apple weirdly makes you choose one of four carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint) to continue through the process. Note that this doesn't lock you into purchasing it from one of these carriers—you can still buy the phone unlocked, untied to a carrier, from Apple. It will show you the installment price from the carrier you chose in the payment screen, but you don't have to choose it.
